I have extend the Income vs. Expenses report, on the report is a “Show Pie” check box, if you click this the reports changes from a bar chart to pie chart. The pie chart also has an extra function that allows you to drill in to pie slice by clicking on it and see what values lays beneath the slice.
Download the new version here
I have added two financial calculators to Money Blues: Loan and Investment calculator. Made some slight modifications to the reports also.

The Open Financial Exchange (OFX) format is now supported by Money Blues. OFX is a XML based standard to exchange financial information between systems. Most banks support the download of the format for you transactions.

I have completed phase one of my personal finance application and I am really happy with it.
For now the focus market/users is South African users, since I only cater for bank statement imports for South African banks. This will also be my first application that is not free or open source. I am going to be spending loads more time developing the software I need some incentive and money seems to be good enough incentive for me.

I find it really difficult and cumbersome to work with personal finance management programs. After 2 days of working with them I tend to dump them and I loose the urge to set-up a personal budget and tracking my expenses. I am not sure if the problem is on my side or is the software to blame for it? Since I can’t figure it out I have decided to write my own little piece of software that will help me handle my personal finances, this way I can design the software as I desire it be to fit my needs and if I dump my own software it may just be me that is the problem after all.
Once I am done and happy I will upload the software to my site.
I am seeing some good things coming from the next version of MSSQL server They are adding IntelliSense for TSQL in the studio, so coding that next stored procedure or simple select statement might be easier. I really hope it can list database objects. Working on database with 200 Tables and 1000+ stored procedures really takes some time to memorise
One of my work colleagues is leaving the company I work for now. Really a shame, the company is loosing some really good talent and I am loosing a friend also.
What is interesting for me is that he going to a start-up company. I personally would not be able to do that; to many things that I need to pay every month, the stress of working for a company that has not really found its feet and that you might end up with out work if the company fails is enough to scare me away from the idea.
That said there is a part of me that likes the idea of moving to a small start-up company. Since I am not really a good writer I will list them in bullet points
Anyway, Ludolph hope your new job is fun and that you guys are a huge success.
Did some changes to Blue Lock
After reading The Cathedral and the Bazaar I felt so inspired, that I decided to dust of BlueLock and review its code and create a new release with some real value, there is so many things that I know I could improve on, I don´t really have a big following on BlueLock but lets see if can´t change that. So my mission is to add new features and create a complete project site for it. It has treated me very well with all my development work and it will help other developers also, so lets see.
Big projects is exhausting, it feels like you never get to end of the project. Been hard at work on the project not updating the site a lot, but I did say that I am man of few words. I Added link to one of my work colleges on my links page.
Was looking so forward to MSSQL 2005, after installing the beast and going to query editor I found that MS did not ever bother to add code completion and intellisense to normal TSQL. Why not? Come on MS you have thousands of developers and you can ´t add this little feature?
Ok I am done with game development; I need to write more stuff that can be used every day. Ag well I had fun with the whole thing AI was the most fun part of coding a game, the graphics and all that stuff I am no good at so I am putting that on the back burner.
I am looking for developer friend, I am looking to create a small team of Delphi developers to create game and since I am lazy person on my own I need a friend to help me code on my idea. What I am looking for is somebody that lives in Pretoria (East) and has 3 years of Delphi experience. The game could go any direction commercial or a hobby project. No previous experience needed with game writing. Contact me
I was bored this weekend and decided to install Linux on my home pc, I have so much respect for Linux not so much for OS but more for to the people that use it.
If your are a windows user you might frown down on a website that tries to explain to you how to install the screen saver or back ground image, let them explain cause I would love to know how to install a theme on Gnome.
I tried Ubuntu Linux made for idiots like me and yeah it was easy to install and you have the software that a normal user will require. I just have one problem now, what do I do with my plain looking Linux? Open Office is great but I don't see my self typing letters and creating sheets of numbers that calculate to random values, there is nothing on the Linux platform that will keep me on it yet, I might have bash at Kylix
Maybe I was very ambitious with my new site, photo and a blog...yeah that will not happen soon, mainly cause I know so little of PHP (create the bloging software) and I really don't have that much to say about anything. Me taking photos yeah that will just do more harm than good. So I removed the photo link.
I read this little article on Joel's site about "12 Steps to Better Code" and there is some other really interesting stuff in it you will also find Painless Bug Tracking, Painless Software Schedules and Guerrilla Guide to Interviewing
Did some soul searching and decided to redo my website, used all the new fancy styles and all the other stuff. To be honest I love the new wave of site design and layouts.
